Total revenues derived from international tourism reach $1.26 billion. It is one of the main sources of growth and foreign income for many developing countries, especially in sub-Saharan Africa, where it grows at a rate of 11% per year, the fastest growth in the world.

Ms. Elcia Grandcourt is the Director of the Regional Programme for Africa at the UNWTO. In this interview, she walks us through the new challenges and opportunities ahead for the organization and the future of tourism as a driver of African development.
